Master of Sacred Music (M.S.M.)
If you are a professional musician and have been called to music ministry either as a leader in your local church or academic research, the Master of Sacred Music is the next step to answering your call.
While in the M.S.M. program, you will benefit from the expertise of faculty in both Perkins School of Theology and SMU's Meadows School of the Arts. By taking both music and theology courses you will engage with a wide range of literature, performance practices and skills, and apply this learning in both academic and church settings.
The Master of Sacred Music program requires that you already have professional skills in you desired concentration. Our seven concentrations include:
Applied Concentrations:
- Choral Conducting
- Composition and Arranging
- Keyboards
- Organ
Academic Concentrations:
- Music Education
- Worship Arts
- Liturgical Musicology
