Perkins Lunch & Lecture

"Presidential Rhetoric & American Political Theology," with Dr. Dallas Gingles

RSVP below for Wednesday, November 6, 2024

11:30 AM - 1:00 PM Central Time

Come experience what education is like at Perkins!

  • Enjoy a meal with current students and staff
  • Explore our programs and discuss the application process
  • Hear from Dr. Dallas Gingles as he discusses content from his class on: Presidential Rhetoric & American Political Theology
"'What is the country’s relationship to God?' is a question (in summary form) posed by St. Augustine. The questions serves as a centering point for this talk as we explore America's deep Protestant convictions, that outline how the country's earliest theorists help account for the fact that the nation is inescapably a theological one. Now, an atheist may refuse any national relationship to God, however, this is not the answer that any President has ever given. Instead, Presidents have willingly taken up the challenge posed by the country asking about its relation God, by offering various interpretations."

Join us for a timely insight into how faculty navigate education in times of political polarization.  Don't wait until it's too late!

Campus Visits

2404030_GR83880

We understand that taking the next step toward obtaining a graduate theological degree can feel a bit daunting. That is why we continue to host students on campus for either an Inside Perkins event or for an Individual Visit. Making a visit is an important step in your journey and we are excited to host you as you get a sense for what your future could be!

Inside Perkins

For a longer visit experience, we recommend an Inside Perkins event. Prospective students will have the opportunity to connect with staff, learn from faculty, hear from current students, and enjoy a tour of campus.

Faculty Lectures

Attending a lunch & lecture event allows students to use their lunch break to connect with admission staff and enjoy a meal, all while learning from a Perkins faculty member.

Individual Visit

We want to work with your schedule to ensure you have an opportunity to visit campus and have a day tailored to your interests
